ABOUT EMPC
Meet the team
East Midlands Physiotherapy Clinic (EMPC)
was established in 1998 by founding
co-partners Judith Pitt-Brooke and Frances Polak. Judith &
Fran met whilst lecturing at Nottingham University as Lecturer
in the Medical School and researcher in the Department of
Orthopaedics respectively. Their shared special interest in
the management of painful musculoskeletal problems (joints,
muscles and ligaments) and a desire to promote the use of
the latest evidence in clinical physiotherapy practice led
to the opening of EMPC in February 1998.
Since then the clinic has grown rapidly and
the team now comprises nine physiotherapists, a podiatrist
and three administrative/support staff.
The clinic welcomes self referred patients
as well as receiving referrals from GPs and Specialist Consultants
from across the region. In addition the EMPC team provides
physiotherapy clinics in-house for several major employers
locally.
The clinic benefits from spacious and comfortable surroundings,
and is equipped with the latest in computerised diagnostic
and treatment technology, including a unique diagnostic biomechanics
measurement system developed within the clinic and a specific
gym/exercise area.
Our physiotherapists have all specialised
in manipulative physiotherapy at post graduate level and we
are able to offer the widest possible expertise through the
hands of our experienced team.
We are proud to have built a very strong
reputation locally, as well as gaining recognition throughout
the Midlands and across the UK as a specialist centre advising
professional and elite sports clubs and individuals on specific
aspects of injury management and optimal performance, based
on diagnostic techniques developed By Frances Polak and Judith
Pitt-Brooke.
