Nigel is a
Chartered Physiotherapist who trained at Coventry University,
qualifying in 2001. He also trained at the Manchester
Metropolitan University
and became a qualified Sports Scientist in 1998, specialising in
Biomechanics and Performance. Nigel has a particular interest in
movement control and muscle balance, and was an award winning
researcher on the subject at Coventry University.
Nigel has a
wide range of experience working in different physiotherapy
environments. He has worked at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester
Royal Infirmary, Leicester Nuffield, and also along side GP’s in
the community. In addition, he has worked with high level
athletes and is currently one of the physiotherapists working
with Leicestershire Cricket Club.
Nigel works
with professional footballers on a consultancy basis, screening
and identifying biomechanical problems that lead to recurrent
injuries. He also works extensively with runners and triathletes,
specialising in the treatment and prevention of overuse
injuries.
Another
particular area of expertise and interest includes physiotherapy
in golf. This includes the treatment of golf injuries as well as
injury prevention, and the conditioning of the body in order to
maximise performance. He uses practical understanding of the
fundamentals of the golf swing in order to identify poor
technique and diagnose injury.
Nigel also
specialises in Sacroiliac joint dysfunction and rehabilitation,
which causes particular pain in the lower back and pelvis
region. These problems can be both acute and chronic in nature.
However, there is usually an extremely positive potential to
significantly reduce or eliminate these dysfunctions with the
correct rehabilitation.
