Judith is one of the two founding Partners
of EMPC. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist, qualifying in 1982.
After specialising in Neurology and Orthopaedics, she went on to
teach at Salford University and subsequently Nottingham
University’s School of Physiotherapy. She gained a Postgraduate
Certificate in Education (with distinction) from Manchester
University in 1987 and a Masters degree from Aston Business
School in 1993.
After 12 years in Physiotherapy
undergraduate and postgraduate education, teaching Clinical
Anatomy and Therapeutic muscle re-education approaches, she
became one of the two founding Partners of EMPC. Her areas of
special interest include muscle balance, re-education of
athletic muscle function, and the role of muscles in the
development of painful musculoskeletal disorders. Judith has
several publications in the field, including a core
undergraduate textbook. She has been Physiotherapy Education
Consultant to Southbank University, developing and advising on
their MSc in Sports Physiotherapy. She is also an advisor to the
Football Association’s Head of Sports Medicine. Judith now leads
the Physiotherapy team that supports Leicestershire County
Cricket Club, responsible for, and co-ordinating the fitness and
injury management provision for the club.
Judith has also been Consultant in Physical
Movement Ergonomics to Walkers Snack Foods Ltd (now part of Pepsico International UK) for the past 7 years and together with
Frances Polak has been involved in evaluating the effectiveness
of early intervention movement and posture programmes in the
motor industry. She now fulfils the same role for Heinz Frozen
and Chilled Foods in the Midlands and is the lead Partner
responsible for physiotherapy clinical services to Brush
Electrical Machines.
Judith's specialist area
within the clinic at EMPC is the analysis and rehabilitation of
muscle balance problems associated with painful overuse
injuries, including long standing low back pain.
